The Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA), Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) and Human Rights Watch (HRW), a New York-based human rights organization invite you to the Manila launch of “As If I Am Not Human: Abuses against Asian Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia”.

This research of HRW which was conducted, from 2006 to 2008, included field visits to Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, interviews and meetings with migrant domestic workers as well as government and embassy and labor officials, analyses of labor and social laws of Saudi Arabia and some of those from labor sending governments. The report examines current gaps and proposed reforms in Saudi law and enforcement and provides detailed recommendations to the Saudi government and labor-sending governments like the Philippines.

The launch will be on July 15, 2008, Tuesday, 9:00am – 12:00noon at Max’s restaurant, Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

We have also invited representatives of the various agencies of Government, concerned committees in Congress, colleagues in migrants’ rights advocacy, returned OFWs, selected members of the diplomatic community and the media.

A representative of the HRW will be present for the launch. Copies of the report as well as a CD containing HRW reports and press releases on domestic workers in 15 countries
will be made available during the launch.

To confirm you attendance, kindly fill up the attached reply slip and send it back to us by email <cma@tri-isys.com> or fax <4330684>. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
(sgd)
