PostSubject: Where’s the P2 billion family planning budget?   Mon Jul 07, 2008 5:13 pm

Forty years ago, world leaders proclaimed that individuals have a basic human right to determine freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children. Forty years later, the question remains, how is the right being promoted?

In the Philippines where the country’s population is pegged at 88.57 million, 4 babies are born every minute, 11 mothers die everyday due to pregnancy related causes, about 473,000 abortions or 1/3 of 1..4 million unplanned pregnancies occurred yearly, and 1 out of 3 Filipinos is considered poor!

In the General Appropriations Act of 2008, there’s a P2 billion allocation fund for family planning services. Where is it now? The people are asking, when can we avail of the services?

The latest update on the P2 B budget!! Know these and more……..
