You all are aware that Bangladesh signed the UN Convention for "The Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Member of their Families" on 4th October 1998 but yet not ratified. WARBE along with partners and other human rights and civil society organizations are lobbying to the government of Bangladesh for the ratification of the Convention since long.

The present government of Bangladesh seriously considering for the ratification of migrants rights UN Convention 1990 as mentioned by our honorable Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE) in a inaugural session of recently held "Regional Dialogue on Implementation of International Instruments on Protecting Rights of Migrant Workers" at Dhaka, Bangladesh (pls.see the news item below).

In this situation, WARBE along with the MFA members in Bangladesh and other partner organizations initiated a nationwide campaign with the support from ILO for the ratification of UN Convention 1990 and also to ratify ILO Convention No.97 &143 and adaptation of the ILO Multilateral Framework on Labour Migration.

Please find attached the detail programs and activities during the campaign. Your kind support would be our strength for the mobilization.

With warm regards,
