Forty-one-year-old Jenny (not her real name) sought the help of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait after her Kuwaiti employer threatened to burn her face and eyes.

Tutuklapin ang balat mo,” said Jenny.

Safely away from the abusive hands of her lady employer, the many scars and bruises she sustained are testament to the hardships she endured while working as a household service worker in Kuwait.

Jenny’s lady employer would heat a kitchen knife on a stove and place it on her neck, ears, lips, hands and feet.

Hindi daw ako sumasagot agad kapag tinatawag niya ako,” Jenny said.

Even her back was not spared from the brutal hands of her employer. Sometimes, her employer would use a water hose or a belt to whip her on the back.

She added that she endured two years of continuous physical suffering from her lady employer.

Furthermore, she could not understand her lady employer’s very strange behavior.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Ricardo Endaya said that the embassy contacted a Kuwaiti lawyer who is ready to file a case against the OFW’s employer.

“I hope the Kuwaiti authorities will not close their eyes sa ganitong klase ng kaso,” Endaya said. Report from Maxxy Santiago,ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau, Kuwait
