A Saudi court sentenced to death a Filipino who attempted to commit suicide by stealing a bus and driving it recklessly. However, he escaped unhurt and instead killed three people.
A report of Emirates 24/7 said the Filipino objected to the verdict, saying he did not intend to kill the three victims in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah.
The report said the Filipino allegedly stole a company bus when the driver stepped out to pray at a nearby mosque.
The Filipino then "drove at a high speed, jumping the red lights many times and going in the wrong direction before ramming into a car carrying a family of one man and two women, killing them instantly," Emirates 24/7 said.
The Filipino told the judge that he wanted to commit suicide for a number of reasons: he had a a dispute with his boss, his fiance threatened to desert him, and he failed to obtain a driver's license. - VVP, GMA News
