PHL consulate in Hong Kong, embassy in Thailand closed Jan. 23
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong will be closed to the public from Jan. 23 to 25 for the Lunar New Year holidays.
The Philippine Embassy in Thailand will also be closed on Monday for the Chinese New Year.
In an announcement posted on its website, the Consulate General in Hong Kong said it will resumeservices to the public on January 26, a Thursday.
“The Philippine Consulate General wishes to inform the public that it will be closed on 23, 24 and 25 January 2012 (Monday and Wednesday) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year’s Day,” it said.
Emergency inquiries regarding consular services may be made via the Consulate General’s hotline at 91554023, it sai.
The Chinese New Year, which falls on January 23 this year, is considered a special nonworking day in the Philippines by virtue of Proclamation 295. In Hong Kong, the second and third days of the Lunar New Year, are considered also general holidays.
PHL embassy in Thailand
In an announcement on its website, the embassy also noted the Chinese New Year is a holiday in Thailand.
"The Embassy will be closed on Monday, 23 January 2012, in observance of the Chinese New Year pursuant to Proclamation No. 295 dated 24 November 2011. Chinese New Year is also declared as a holiday in Thailand," it said. - VVP, GMA News
