What to bring for PHL's biggest local, overseas job fair May 1

These are some of the things that job applicants must bring for the country's biggest job fair at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City on Labor Day, May 1.

In a news release, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said some 100,000 job opportunities will be available at the WTC event.

The DOLE said these are some of the documents that job applicants must bring:
resume or curriculum vitae
2 x 2 ID pictures, preferably extra copies for multiple job applications
certificate of employment, for those formerly employed
diploma and/or transcript of records, and
authenticated birth certificate.

"Whether you are going to the job fair at the World Trade Center or to another job fair in a particular city or province, have your application documents ready as job opportunities in 'key employment generator' industries will be abundantly available at the job fairs on May 1," Baldoz said.

"Employers will interview, pre-select, and hire on-the-spot qualified workers, but if the applicant is not qualified, he may opt to look for other vacancies," she added.

The DOLE said new jobseekers will be required to fill up registration forms to be provided at the job fairs.

Jobseekers can also pre-register online through the PhilJob.net website or manually through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in their locality.

The 2012 Labor Day Job Fairs will give other choices to job applicants such as:
self-employment assistance,
training, and
scholarship grants.

Applicants seeking training assistance may proceed to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) booth for interview and scheduling.

On the other hand, applicants seeking for self-employment assistance may proceed to the self-employment and livelihood booth.

Overseas Filipino workers, and their dependents seeking for welfare services, may also be accommodated at the Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration booth.

The theme of the 2012 Labor Day celebration is "Pagtutulungan, Pagbabago, Disenteng Trabaho." - VVP, GMA News
