Pinoy in UAE pretending to be a woman nabbed for unlicensed laser surgeries
A Filipino in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) faced the court on Wednesday after pretending to be a woman to lure customers to a private clinic where he allegedly conducted unlicensed laser cosmetic surgery.
According to a report of the news site Gulf News, the Filipino, who was not named in the report, was also accused of molesting a Sudanese medical inspector and endangering her life while conducting a laser session.
However, the 42-year-old Filipino has denied all the accusations.
"No sir, I did not do that. No, I am not guilty. No sir, I did not perform a laser session or molest her... but I only showed her the laser," he was quoted as saying.
The prosecutors had accused the suspect of cross-dressing and posing as a female to lure women to a private clinic where he performed unlicensed laser cosmetic surgeries.
The prosecutors also accused the Filipino of molesting a Sudanese medical inspector by inspecting the upper part of her body and touching her arm.
The report said the Sudanese developed skin burns when the suspect performed a laser treatment to remove hair from the armpit area.
Question about suspect's gender
Meanwhile, the Gulf News report said the Filipino caused confusion between two policemen in the court room as they were not sure whether he was a man or a woman.
A policeman who thought the suspect was a woman, made him stand near the bench of judges in the Dubai Court of First Instance.
However, another policeman who thought the suspect was a man asked him to stand inside the dock of the courtroom.
Then Judge Al Mahdi said: “The suspect is a man, who is facing charges of cross-dressing and wearing women's clothes. Let him stand inside the dock.” - VVP, GMA News
