Teenage Pregnancy: A Reality Unchecked

“Lisa”, not her real name, is a young girl from Caloocan who is now 8-months pregnant. Her husband is now in jail for cases of theft. Her father earns a measly P100 daily as a tricycle driver, not even enough to feed her other four siblings. She is 16.

“Irene”, not her real name, like Lisa is still a kid at heart and still into street games. She wish to be back at school but her family is cash-strapped and no one will look after her 3-month old baby. She is 16.

According to Zone One Tondo, a Manila based community organization, the youngest mother on their record is 12 years old. They are ready to tell their stories….
