Tomorrow, 22 0ctober, will be the start of the 9-day Peoples’ Global Action on Migration, Development and Human Rights, an international civil society event parallel to the 2nd Global Forum on Migration and Development. You are cordially invited to join in the event’s opening ceremonies which will be from 6:00 AM – 12:00 NN, at the Malate Catholic Church parking lot, Manila.
The Peoples’ Global Action is an alternative movement that will bring together migrants, human rights advocates, people’s organizations, social movements, CSOs and labour unions worldwide to discuss migration policies that respect migrants’ and all peoples’ rights. It focuses attention to human rights as the basis for development, and explores from a rights-based perspective, the full range of issues involved in migration, including the underlying problems of poverty and injustice, and how we can decisively address these.
Your participation in the day’s festivities which will include dance performances and musical tributes to migrants (please find attached the opening program), and signal the commencement of the Peoples’ Global Action is very much anticipated.
