The Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA), a Philippine-based NGO that focuses on
policy advocacy for the rights and welfare of Filipino migrant workers and
their families and the South East Asian Committee for Advocacy (SEACA),
convener of Solidarity for Asian People’s Advocacies’ Working Group on the
ASEAN (SAPA WG on ASEAN), would like to invite you to a Consultation-Workshop
on the ASEAN People’s Charter and Engaging the Drafting of the ASEAN
Political/Security Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprints on
May 9, Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm at UP Balay Kalinaw, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon
City.

The Consultation-Workshop aims:

§ to broaden and deepen civil society participation and engagement with ASEAN
not just at the regional but also at the country level,
§ to raise awareness of the public and civil society organizations on the
ASEAN People’s Charter and the drafting processes for the ASC and ASCC Blueprints,
§ to foster and encourage an inclusive and consultative process on the
drafting and finalization of the ASEAN People’s Charter for presentation
during the 4th ACSC in Thailand in late 2008, and
§ to gather and consolidate civil society inputs on the drafting of the ASC
and the ASCC Blueprints

Since the consultation-workshop will only be for one whole day, we will set up
an online forum to initiate discussions ASAP on the three ASEAN documents.
Online comments and inputs will be summarised and presented to the May 9
meeting. We trust that you will also accept our invitation to the online
discussions.

Kindly send back by email or fax the attached confirmation sheet to CMA at
cma@tri-isys.com; fax # 4330684. We look forward to your presence and active
participation.
